Let's measure races to thousandths and beyond while we're at it.

Just do the damned thing accurately. 1 inch is exactly 2.54 cm
    6'5.5" is 1.9685m

    Re: Conversion feature

Having grown up in Canada and competed in track when the conversion to metric was happening in the early 1970's, I became "bilingual" and equally comfortable with both systems. Things that I found worked pretty accurately were, for a few examples: HJ: 1.83 is 6 ft and 5 cm is 2 inches. You can work up and down from that height pretty reliably. 1.88 IS 6-2 and 1.98 IS 6-6. Other jumps and throws: Find a "conversion point" (like 1.83=6') and a metre is 39" (close enough).

Greenbook is made to convert meters to imperial since no official measurement (in the athletics world) is done in feet and inches anymore.

But to answer your question, yes, if you wanted a truly accurate representation to go the other way, you'd need another set of tables made to do it. The late Bob Sparks once had such a set of tables.

OK, 6ft, 5.5 in is 1.97 meters (rounded).

But a more interesting question is this. Is 1.97 meters = 6ft, 5.5in?

Having read the other conversion thread, it makes you wonder?

    Conversion feature

Here is a reasonably cool google feature that will allow people to convert from metres to feet and inches and vice versa. Just go to any google website and, for example, type in(to borrow someone'e handle):

6 feet 5.5 inches in metres

...and see what you get. This feature will do all kinds of calculations.
Working...
