  • Russian Champs - next week

The Russian national champs start 11/6, which is unusually early in the season. In recent years they have tended to be a bit later, too close to the major champs to allow the athletes to peak twice, but not close enough for them to carry their form through. This has tended to mean in competitive events like the women's 400 & 800 they haven't quite lived up to expectations in the majors. With the champs being next week this should hopefully mean we will see better performances when it counts.

The timetable doesnt really allow a womens 200/400 double, with the 200m SF being 45 mins before the 400m F.

The Znamensky Memorial is on 24/6, so you'd expect further selections for Gothenberg to be made then.

11.30 is a PB by 2/10ths for Guschina.

Nothing special in the 5000m finals-no Shobukhova or Zadorozhnaya in the women's event. Sofin threw the shot 20.68m.

That link seems to only give results of finals. Of course, maybe I'm just an idiot. Can someone point me to a place where prelim results are located?

Me neither... and was worried initially as the mens 400mh winning time was 50.53 too so wasnt sure whether there was some mistake.

Should be tilastopaja or rusathletics/trackandfield.ru soon though

Speaking of the men's 400H, I read there was a major screwup in the final, as the 9th flight of hurdles was placed 3m further than it should have been. That messed up everyone's rhythm and it was apparently the reason for Mashchenko falling down.
