It is very ironic indeed. I also find it strange that as some have posted on other threads, the manufacturer specifically states that athletes who take this drug may fail doping tests(unless this is a false statment). For the life of me, with the expense of bringing a new drug to the market, why study the effects it has on doping tests?

From the manufacturer's insert. Goldman should have read that as part of his research you would think.
"Warning:
If you are suffering from a heart condition, it is essential that you consult your doctor. Athletes should be aware that one of the main ingredients of this pharmaceutical product would produce a positive result in anti-doping tests."
Right MJD.....that is what I read also. Maybe the drug company lawyers are paid more than Dr. Goldman. It is possible that this is a recent warning also. It wouldn't be hard to change the wording on a website. In your experience, have you heard of any other athlete testing positive for this drug?

Just Phillips. It is possible that there have been others that never saw the light of day because of national federations accepting the athletes' explanations and/or evidence?
Depending on the sensitivity of the equipment/sophistication of the lab, it may well have gone un-noted. Most technicians would have a tendency to be looking for specific drugs, not for strange new molecules.

The rumour is that the IAAF was recently told to look for the stuff so maybe that is why it was never found earlier. They just started looking for it.
