Good time for clay similar to his Gotzis performance (10.44). If he will LJ 7.80+ he has a chance for the AR.
Hardee is little bit slow I expected him to run ~10.4.
Good run by Pappas though, if he can keep it up he can score +8500

I was hoping Dettmer would run 10.8; he still gives up so many points on the throws that he has to score high on the running events (ran 4:11 at NCAAs, I think).

Clay needs to go at least low 48 in the 400m too, probably 47s.

Headwinds for the LJ again. I think there is a little known rule that decathlons in the USA must always be conducted into the wind. If it is calm giant fans must be set up.

              headwinds?

They might be slightly headwinds, but they are pretty close to negligible.

They did not get the memo about the wind for the junior Decathlon, as the 100 had +2.2mps marks.

That's not doling much for Pappas, Clay, et al.

Of course it is not helping them, but I think that there is selective memory on the decathon winds, since the negatives stick in people mind while the aiding winds are forgotten. Also, in the 100 there was some variation and the winds were pretty modest.

Well anyhow this one's pretty much gone down the tubes after the HJ. Clay was decent, the other contenders baffling.

160 lb college kid smokes the pros with his 47.09. He will win two events here, since his 4:11 1500 will beat anyone there I think. Too bad his 160 lbs size limits his throws so much; I doubt he will ever be a major deca guy but I wouuld like for him to do well.
