    Clay NH!
    Hardee NH!
It is mind boggling that decathletes do not have some starting vault just to stay in contention. Twice in one year means there is someting wrong with Hardee's opening height. What about Clay?
The problem is that if your approach or plant is off, you can't clear ANY height, cuz you can't even get to the bar. The only alternative is to straight vault 11' and then pass to opening ht, but that won't get you enough to win, just place.

OK I can see that. So what is wrong with his approach or plant?

I see a score for Hoepfert. Detmer is the only NH type to continue, I think he wants both the experience and the 1500; this might be his last competition..

Yeah I missed that opening height of his.

Part of why Detmer finished was so he could help pace Jake in the 1500. I don't think it's going to be his last competition.

Clay and Hardee were not going to clear a bar yesterday, no matter how low they came in. Neither finished a vault when the bar went up. I know Trey never got off the ground in warmups, wasn't really paying attention to Clay.

They both felt like crap and were hurting. It happens.
