The closest anyone has come to a 5.000m-1.500m double at a US nationals was 103 years ago in Milwaukee, when Alex Grant scored victories in the mile and two-mile events on September 11, 1903.

I'm too lazy to research it, but I suspect that no one has ever successfully doubled in the Nationals in 1500/5000, mile/3mile.

Nobody ever has won those two events in the same year in this meet.

Similar to the 100m/200m string the other day... I wonder where Lagat would stand with his 1500m/5000m performances yesterday in relation to others who have attempted that particular double on the same day...
