  • Sherone Simpson wins 200m at JA Champs in 22.00 seconds

Great run by her. Just saw the race. She ran excellent. Great form. Very strong towards the end of the race.

She even slowed a few strides towards the end. Definately would have run under 22 if she didn't slow down the last 3 strides.

    Excellent

Her form has changed dramatically over the past few weeks.

I saw her at Prefontainne and she looked "ragged" and uneven.

She said earlier that she was working on her form alot because she had alot of wasted motions earlier on.

She now runs like a sprinter.

I am really proud of her.

As she said in her post race interview, she "hopes" to duplicate these efforts on the GP/GL circuit last on in the year. I hope she does because she looked so strong, I don't think even Marion Jones will catch her.

The Marion Jones of 10.70 fame is the Marion of old. She will never run that time again.

I am extremely happy for Sherone, but her middle name is inconsistency. Until she can prove that she can run below 11 seconds outside of Jamaica, I will reserve full respect for her talent. I believe her problem is mental and Francis needs to work on that aspect of her preparation, if he isn't already doing so. I expect her to eventually come into her own internationally. Who knows, she might be the darling of the 08 Olympics.

The thing that looked scary was that she "slowed" down 3 to 4 strides before the finishing line which would have been a definite below 22 seconds.

I am looking for great things for her on the GP Circuit.

I think she runs next at the Rome Golden League July 3rd. Well over a week to rest and relax.

She needs that one big run in Europe. After she accomplishes that, it will be a major breakthrough for her.

In her post race interview, she said that she hopes to duplicate her success in Europe later on in the season.

                We will see next week.

Sherone is in some very fast company. Good for her.

It will be interesting to see how Sherone does through the summer. She was an 11.2-3 sprinter before and after her NC last year. She ran a PR 10.97+0.4 at the NC.

She was an 11.1-2 sprinter this year before the NC and now drops a 10.82-0.7!! If you account for the wind that is at least a 0.20 PR.

Doesn't she and Asafa have the same coach? He is so incredibly consist race to race. If you look at Asafa's last 3 years and correct for wind and altitude he runs 9.8x-9.9x about every race.

Really, really great double. 10.82/22.00. My damn ATFS annual hasn't arrived and the old ones are packed. How old is she? Could there be a new rivalry cooking (v Felix & Williams, plus Campbell when she returns)?

I saw this coming, if she could correct certain flaws.
                          11.01 before she turned 20.
                          10.97 last year.
PR in 200m at CWG beating VC in process.
PR 22.11 at home on May 7.
She always seems to peak at trials.
I figured with her newfound 200 strength she would hold her speed better in the 100, but wasn't sure she would go sub 10.9 without VC in the field.
She looks remarkably like Sanya in that pic
why don't people pronounce vowels anymore
