  • Yokohama meet - one last time

Not that I wish the T&F season over, but what's up with this meet? I can't believe anyone has anything left (maybe Gatlin and Gaines are still raring to go). 'Must be the money!' I wouldn't think anyone's ranking would even be influenced by this meet at all. Is there even a site up for it?

You answered the question yourself. It's a big pay day for the athletes. Tokyo Broadcasting (TBS)is a huge sponser of the IAAF, and they have covered all of the Golden League meets. This is just about the only major international meet in Asia, so they are willing to pay big bucks to get the stars they have been promoting all season long. At least twice the usual appearance fee.

I guess it's over now - S Crawford ran 20.19 as the only other mildly interesting mark.
