mens 1500 is up now. Rumor has it that Ramzi has requested WR pace. Sun is starting to leave, but temp close to 80deg. Stadium attendance has increased a little in the back...

at 300m - Ramzi in third behind Kenyans. It looks quick...pack has strung out immediately. First 400 is 51.19!

Ramzi and two Kenyans closing in on rabbits at 550m. Ramzi probably split 52+. still ahead of WR pace...

Rest of the field a good 20m back. Heshko is in that pack.

        1:48.81 for 800!! 57.62 for that 400.

Ramzi right there with second pace maker. Pace maker drops out at 920! Ramzi with 5m lead over two Kenyans. First Kenyan closing the gap a little with 400 to go. Maybe 2:33 at the bell?

        Ramzi shadowed by Kenyan.

2:46.27 at 1200. 57.46 lap. WR not going to happen now.

Ramzi and Kenyan together. Ramzi's head bobbing/ Daniel Komen Kipchirchir slipping by Ramzi. 3:29.02 for winner - Daniel Komen Kipchirchir, barely nips Ramzi who was gutsy all the way through the last 100m. Komen looks happy and relaxed at the finish.

Big pack 2+ second in back of them, mass finish, but outside camera range.

Replay: Looks like Ramzi leaned a little too soon but probably would have lost anyway.

              3'29-flat !

              very good news !

pace obviously too haphazard, & hopefully with better pacing in future, somewhere around mid-3'28 must be on the cards for k2

Wow. That was some aggressive pace early on... Got to be the fastest 800 split of any race ending within shouting distance of 3:29...

Lukezic, on rough peek, I think No. 11 American ever, and of all of those ahead of him, only Jim Ryun younger than his 22?

Tremendous depth of marks - did they perhaps set a few best ever marks for places?

Letsrun poster had a funny theory as to why Lukezic and Sully are running so well. Can't post it-would get deleted.

Yeah, depth for sure: 7 under 3:32! Great run by Lukezic... Not to beat a dead horse, but a fit Webb should have been in this race, fighting to run 3:30...
