  • Pitkämäki, Thorkildsen Planning on Nordic Combination

SVT.se reported earlier this week that Tero Pitkämäki and Andreas Thorkildsen are planning on starting up a training camp in South Africa this upcoming winter, one which, if it gets off the ground (it is in planning stage), will be called "Nordisk Combination".

Thorkildsen - the Olympic champion - and his coach made the proposition to Pitkämäki and his trainer, Hannu Kangas after Rome:s GL meet.

If these two can train together, what will the Nordic stars produce in 2007? First things first, however: They will have to face each other at the European Champs here in Göteborg in about a month.

Are training centres and/or camps useful?

Can't really see what either of them have to gain from it.

Didn't Backley and Zelezny train together for a while?

I assume the camp could help these two athletes work on specific aspects of the event, with both athletes gaining technical advantages from their respective rival trainers.
