No, the times which I gave are for his last 400m.

      that's a good point

remember though, in slow races, if kennster is up against guyz who ran 1500s in 3'26 - 3'30, a kick from 700, 800 or 900 still may not damage them overly

he may have to start his kick all the way from 2000 out !

Bek ran 1:53 for the last 800 recently for a win but that may not be enough against......

In the next 18 months Lagat will have the US record in the 5000. It is almost inevitable.

Lagat: 51,3. There has never been a faster final 400m in a sub-13.00 race in the history of this sport.

About whether Bekele tried taking it out of Lagat?

2.34,57 - (12.52 pace) faster than Lagat:s 5.000m PB, on schedule with Bekele:s SB. The pace then slipped to 13.11 pace at 2.000m, and the third 1.000m segment (2.36,98) was run at a 13.04 pace. 2.40 put Lagat:s legs into heaven, and he closed with 2.25,2. Lagat:s 7.41 final 3.000m was 12.48 pace AFTER the first 1.000m pace faster than Lagat could have normally handled as "only" a 12.59 runner. Either way - at 12.59 or 12.48 - Lagat would have been right there on Bekele:s heels, as Bekele has not been a sub-12.50 runner this season.
