  • Should Sherone Simpson share in the Jackpot?

She wins 4 out of 6 Golden League womens 100. The 2 she lost were to Marion Jones. So if Ms Jones's "B" sample comes back positive does Sherone Simpson get credit for the wins and as a result a share of the big jackpot?

She had better get credit if Jones is indeed proved to be a drugged up phony.

She lost in Oslo to Debbie Ferguson, not Marion Jones.

Even with Ferguson winning in Oslo, Simpson would have 5 out of 6 if Jones' Paris result is nullified, and that means Simpson gets a share of half of the million dollars.

Yikes! Surprised that this hadn't come to the fore earlier. Simpson's agent should probably have been making some public noise as soon as she won in Brussels.

It has already made the news. The IAAF's SeanWJ has commented on the issue.

I brought this up a few weeks ago in my newsletter.

Obviously, nothing can be done until after the Jones case runs its course. If her Paris win is ultimately nullified, y'all can rest assured that Simpson will get her share.

Of course, if Ms Jones' B sample comes back positive, and she is found guilty, then Sherone will share in the jackpot...

'Share' - does this mean that once the other athletes receive their 'Share' of the jackpot this weekend, in 1 months time they will have to give some of their 'share' of the money back to make up for Sherone then being part of the 'share'?

it would seem a bit wierd that they would have to give some of their money back? or will they withhold everyone's cut until the jones saga is finalised?

Given its appears Jones' B-Sample was negative, Simpson looks to have missed out:

Indeed. Unless an inquisition of Trevor Graham trips up Marion and her entire career, Sherone will get diddly squat for her efforts. She will, however, come up number 1 in the 100/200.

I guess the answer is no. Marion's B sample came back negative. Open ? This is not the first time that an A positive for EPO was followed by B negative. I think that happened to Lagat. Is the EPO testing procedure flawed (false positive) or does the active ingrediant "decay" over the time between the testing of the two samples?
