I predict Asafa to win in 9.75 seconds and collect his $100,000 bonus.

When the WC was in Stuttgart the 100 winds were either minor aid (less than 1.0) or slightly negative. Predicted high for Saturday is 21 (69). A 9.75 under those kinds of conditions will be jammin' indeed!

Is it possible for Gay to win? I know there has been talk of a bad start in his last race.

christie won there back in '93 with a fantastic 9.87 ( morally, the "true" wr by 0.03s ) & jacko ran 12.91wr, ff a then 19.85pb

it was a damn quick track even back then !

even if it's the same track today, you can run fast on it !

Having watched, it sure seemed like it was more a matter of AP's awesome start, than anything Gay did wrong, The answer seems, no, there's no way he can win, but ya-never-know.

WOW, AP really had to run the LAST 10m to nip Scott in 9.89. Scott 9.91, Gay 9.92!

Well ... like he said the press conference yesterday ... Powell is learning to run through the line.

Those reaction times are,..., well they are awfully quick. Is the 0.10 calibration now in need of revision or are they anticipating? There were at least three marks today under 0.11 (Liu had the other at 0.108).

There are reports on other mesasge board that Powell had some soreness and he did just enough to win.

                          Seems plausible.

He runs next week at the world cup.

As long as starters insist on shooting the gun 0.000001 (or sometimes -0.00001) seconds after they THINK everyone has gotten into a still set position, the anticipation possibility seems as likely as any.

Since the starter is REACTING to the athletes arriving at the Set position, clearly the gun can NOT go off any sooner than .100 sec AFTER that, or it would clearly be a 'false start' on the starter.
