  • WAF w3000

I still don't see much point in watching the first dozen laps of any distance events, but I'm really starting to enjoy the last 400 meters of the Defar/Dibaba duels.

The pace was respectable for the first 2km but Dibaba looked quite tired down the homestraight and never looked like beating Defar.

I thought Dibaba will be fresher as it seems Defar has been racing much more this season but they both go on to the World Cup next week. I think Dibaba is in the 3000 and Defar is in the 5000.

diby has run all 6 golden leagues which defar hasn't, so i'd have expected defar to be fresher

An explanation why this race was a whole lot faster than Saturday's 5000:

"She may have finished eighth but plenty of those who witnessed yesterday's action, were more than happy to comment on the performance of the headband wearing Australian, [Eloise] Wellings......" [large chunk of copy cut by mods: read it at the URL plz.]

Dibaba has run Oslo, Gateshead, Rome, Paris, London, Zurich, Brussels, Berlin, Mauritius, Monaco 5km.

Defar has done Doha, Hengelo, New York, Rome, Paris, Stockholm, Berlin, Brussels, Mauritius, Monaco 5km.

Actually, I suppose they have run the same amount of track races but Defar seems to have been racing all season and had a busier winter with Carlsbad 5km, Moscow 3000m, two more indoors and a couple of cross country.
