It's my understanding that USATF does not test anyone. That's done by USADA. Sanya, of course, spent much of the summer in Europe, where she was subject to IAAF testing. Given her successes, I am sure she was tested. How often? No idea.
Easy to find out. Go to

    http://www.usantidoping.org/what/stats/history.aspx

Shows 5 tests between Jan 1 and June 30 2006.

Well, the question asked specifically about the summer, but I guess if we wait until early next year, we'll get our answer, at least for USADA tests. I don't think the IAAF does that with their tests.

thats'a great system that makes it public what tests people have taken. there is a lot of publicity around christines missed test but we have no idea how many she passed.

just wondering are sanyas tests out of competition, if not then the stats are not so impressive

It depends on what country that person is living in at the time. Athletes that train in the US from smaller nations like Trinidad, etc will be tested not by their federation, but by the IAAF reps, who in most cases double as the USADA testers

It may be different for the foriegn athletes living and training in the UK. Not sure of that particular process.

The USADA web site doesn't break that down. But they do have overall stats that show that the majority of their tests during that period were out-of-competition.

Since the top athletes compete mainly inEurope during the second half of the season and, if tested, would show up differently, I would guess that it is likely that some of her tests are out-of-competition. Of course, a counterexample is Gatlin's +Ve at an early relay meet.
