Getting away from all the negative drug talk (I say throw them all in jail), this Sunday will have the USA 50km RW Champs in Hauppauge, NY. Already 40 athletes are registered, with another 10-15 expected.
Curt Clausen looks to be the favorite, with Al Heppner, John Soucheck and Dave McGovern looking to push Curt. In the women's race, the fight will be a rematch of the recent 40km Champs, as Cheryl Rellinger and Erin Taylor go at it again. Rellinger held off a hard charging Taylor by 2 minutes in September. The athletes will be fighting for $1100 in prize money and looking to get qualifying time for the 2004 Olympic Trials, which will be held in February.
