  • PreNats ... anyone care to comment?

It's hard to imagine that Ritz and Hall could again be the talk of the day, but given injury histories and everything else, they sure showed up nicely today.

Flanagan obviously very dominant for the women. Nice races by Bei and Lambie.

I submit Stanford as one of the favorites for the men's title.

I just wish they'd actually race each other! Impossible to say what Ritz or any of the "Gold" racers would have done vs. Hall and Kangogo. It builds some suspense but head-to-head clashes are so rare in collegiate XC these days (ever?) that when the opportunity is there I'd love to see these men and women lace them up and actually race each other.

Who can give us a little background on Kangogo?

Not hard to imagine at all, at least for those who have a clue. Just goes to show that the doomsayers who said that Hall was already dead as a runner (whether by XC or whatever) and that Ritz was being run to death really don't know jack. Stanford is untouchable, especially once they add Robison into the mix. BYU women are far and away favorites, though Stanford will be right there if they slip, and Flanagan looks to be able to be the first women's individual doubler in a long time.

Flanagan a doubler ... do you mean repeater? As in back to back titles? Yep, she seems primed to do that all right.

Stanford men are basically unbeatable. Don't forget that Grant Robison hasn't even raced yet this season after a long track campaign.

Only 5 weeks to go until NCAA's. Unless Stanford kills themselves in training (which they won't) they're going to win big time.

The big race will be for 3rd. Wisconsin looked good in the weak Drews Invite this past weekend, but Tegenkamp's health is in question, as usual.

Did the NCAA take me up on my terrific idea of adding a short course event!? I'm surre Dan L. was behind the push (wink wink).

Seriously - 23:44 and your 6th man and don't even count in your team scoring - that's pretty sick.

A couple of years ago when the NCAA was in Ames it seemed that Stanford was particularly affected by the cold - the year it was 17 or 18 degrees at the start. That or mass illness is about all I can think that would make the race for the team title even close.

I'm kind of glad they didn't show all to us.
Of course, *I'm* going down to watch the NCAA meet, so that might color my goggles a bit.

Knowing how Colorado does things, they should be right there, too.

Assuming Stanford doesn't collapse completely the Buffs are running for 2nd.

I wouldn't worry too much about Tegenkamp. He'll be there when needed. Stanford should take the title and Wisconsin should be second. But, there can always be a spoiler in a race like this.

Remember, the race is 10K not 8k.
