The kid already has a wikipedia entry, and it's got a tantalizing bit of mis-information on it. It indicates that he ran the 800m at the CAC Games last year. In fact, he did not run the 800 either there or at the CAC Junior Championships. Jalava's web site shows no 800m results for him at all, ever.

      Neil Cohen?
Believe he was the AD at Allegheny CC in Pennsylvania when they had a great distance program in the 70's.
One comment on ncaa,d.1-juco regulations. Once you start juco classes full time (12hrs/semester) you are stuck in juco till you graduate with 48 transferable hrs in a major.

Yes, but I doubt that this rule applies when the juco doesn't actually exist, like Bora Ward.

And it's so easy to beat the 12 hr rule. Just take 9 to begin with.

Correct, with Paul Stemmer the most notable of his athletes.

Yes, which now has me wondering if this one might be a Jr.

In fact, it probably is. I just googled Neil I. and found that he passed away Dec. 5, 2005.

Almost certainly is not the Allegheny coach's son. Jewish kids are traditionally named after deceased close relatives. Although there may be one out there somewhere, I've never heard of a Jewish guy having the same name as his father. It just isn't done. (Yeah, I know there are Cohens who are not Jewish, but I don't think that's the case here. I'm almost positive Neil I. Cohen was Jewish.)
