  • McCorory Blazes 36,67 in Virginia, Beats Solomon

McCorory, the USR-holder in the 300m and 400m indoors, makes a great splash on the collegiate scene, outracing Shalonda Solomon over 300m in Virginia, 36,67-36,93. Natasha Hastings, whose 300m HSR McCorory broke in 2006, was third in 37,07.

You:ll recall that McCorory ran a 51,93 400m last season at the NIN, and was selected TFN Athlete of the Month (article)

More importantly, last year McCorory was HS Athlete of the YEAR indoors (before getting hurt early outdoors).

The 36.67 makes her No. 8 performer (11 performance)in world history, and is an American Record to boot.

Don't know. Somebody should be able to provide a link to suitable lists so we can see how this performance compares to the fastest on the all-time lists. Certainly a very very talented young woman and this bodes well for the deep pool of ability for the US 4x4, which I believe will take down the WR this year or next.

Interestingly I recall Angella Issajenko beating Merlene Ottey and setting a world 300 best of 36.9x in the early 80's. Irina Privalova has gone ~ 35.5x indoors, Ana Guevara 35.3x [A] outdoors, and Marita Koch 34.3x in her WR 400.
        Take good care of yourself.

Broke her own, yes. (With the caveat that there are no official World Inndoor Junior Records.)

And why did she basically disappear after this notable race?

Hamstring; coach says she won't compete again until next indoor season.
