"what is your problem, marion is tested more than anyone else and she has NEVER tested positive for anything"

Who are you talking to? Your post has NOTHING to do with the one directly preceding it (mine), and if you were replying to someone else, you should indicate who that person is. Read the board and find out how it's done.

    I agree.

Nice to hear talk of Ashford with all the Drug mess going on now. She is still, for my money, the best woman sprinter ever (and certainly the most gracefull to watch). As an athlete and a women she always handled herself with great class and was a true credit to our sport. Let's hope that Pat Connelly can inspire some of the same qualities in young Ms Felix as she did in her most famous charge.

Welcome to the Twilight Zone. Actually that's amazing, makes Felix an even more exciting prospect for the future.

Interesting that you mentioned Evelyn Ashford in your comments about Allyson Felix. Pat Connolly, who coached Ashford, is now coaching Felix.

"Won't be Felix; I doubt she'll do much in any event next year but she's more of a 200 runner anyway."

Maybe some coaches could shed a bit of light on something I have observed over the years: It seems to take a few years before athletes who are new to the international scene develop the strength to carry them through a season as long as the one Felix attempted this year. Evelyn Ashford in 1977-79 illustrates the point well. In '77, she was stunning at the US championships with an American record 22.62, but by the World Cup she could only manage something around 23.4 as I remember. The following year she held her form better and longer and improved her world ranking as a result. By 79, she ran 11.07AR in May, 10.97 at nationals, and had a splendid European campaign winning all the biggies right around 11 seconds before clobbering WR holder Marlies Gohr in 11.06 in Montreal into a headwind. (biggest live thrill for me at a track meet to this day).

I expect Felix will hold her form better next year. Thoughts?

For those of you who don't remember the '50s:

Angela Williams will be in the mix with all the other girls, but won't do anything exceptional.
