My father, a man of principle, boycotted movies that featured American actors or actresses who lived in Monaco. He felt that these people were living there solely to avoid paying US income taxes. As a wage earner, he paid taxes on every dime he earned, and he resented very highly paid Hollywood types who made their income from movies that were (in those days) getting almost all their revenue from the USA, but who didn't pay income tax at all because they had fled to a tax haven.
My question is, does anyone feel that way anymore? Does it bother any of our British posters that Paula Radcliffe makes lots of money running in the UK and getting sponsorships from UK companies (and representing GBR internationally) but presumably don't suffer the heavy burden of British income taxation by simply setting up a residence in Monaco? I don't know of any top US track stars who live there, but I think there are other Europeans who do this as well. Doesn't anyone care?
