  • FIrst year runner

My brother decided to take up XC/Track last year as a senior in high school. In cross country his best time was 15:55 and in track he ran 51.5
2:00 and 4:28 in the mile. It was his first year running track and I think he did pretty well, I was just wondering how fast do you guys/gals think he can run this year, and how fast if he stays healthy and interested can he run for his college career.
    THanks

    Re: FIrst year runner

The times are very good for the first year running but there is no telling what he will able to do in the future. There are too many variables. The type of training he did this year, his level of physical maturity, dedication to the sport and willingness to put in work (and hurt), ability to handle hard training without injury and physilogical/psycological makeup all are unknowns.

He had a great start and should continue to try to improve and enjoy the sport. If we knew how fast he could be there would be no need for him to continue to train and race. Discovering one's abilities is what makes our sport what it is - nobody but your brother has the ability to uncover his abilities.
