  • Wanna Tight NCAA? Try This Year's Last Day

Unfortunately, the NCAA-supplied URL isn't working properly at the moment but can tell you that Saturday in Sacto allows you to have lunch (hell, brunch!) after the meet.

5 field events, all starting at 10:00 (that'll be an announcer's joy, both in terms of the introductions and also in trying to cover them at all).

12 track events, first starting at 10:05, last one (women's 4x4) starting at 11:48. You could be across the street for a beer before noon!

Still can't get the URL to work, but the data is now reproduced in a link on the front page.

This schedule makes new 4x400 records next to impossible since the runners will have a lot less recovery time following their open events than in previous years.

Men's 4x4 start is 59 minutes after the 400 start: last year it was 85. Even X would have trouble with that one.

Please tell me it's set this way for a live T.V. window.

In 2005, the men 400 finalist had 22:35 rest between the semifinals and the final and 2:35 rest between the 400 final and the 4x400 final. In 2007 those rest times will be 17:37 and 0:59 respectively. For women 400 finalist, those rest times were 22:30 and 2:35 in 2005, and will be 17:34 and 1:04 in 2007. For men 400 hurdle finalists, the rest intervals have shrunk from 22:00 and 1:50 in 2005 to 16:20 and 1:31 in 2007. For women 400 hurdlers, it's 21:55 and 1:50 in 2005 versus 16:12 and 1:36 in 2007. Also, in 2005 both men and women 200 finalists had 1:25 rest between the 200 final and the 4x400 final. In 2007, the men will have 0:45 rest while the women get 0:50 rest between the 200 final and the 4x400 final. I wouldn't be surprised if next year CBS demands that the 4x100 finals be moved from Friday to Saturday to try and make the meet more watchable for Joe Sixpack.

Realistically, this was very unlikely to happen this year regardless. Baylor's horses need another year or two before taking a serious shot at the record.
