As you can see from the above photo, the renovation of Wallace Wade Stadium included a new track. The track has been resurfaced and appears to be ready to host another NCAA track championship.

Still a crappy place to watch a meet when the stands obscure part of the track.

yes, stevie wonder you are oh so right... they need to rip out part of the stands down at the end. (And they do not need the seats for football games, that's for sure.) It is absolutely ridiculous to have a meet of any consequence there, but the fans be damned ! So what if they can't see the runners come off the last turn ??!!

Spoken by a Duke track grad.....spent a lot of hours down in that stadium.

The thing I like about Duke Stadium is you can sit anywhere you want, and move around. I remember watching the US,WG,Africa, USSR meets decades ago.

I was not joking about slicing off a bit of the stands down opposite the 4th turn. I am sure they could do it in such a way that it would not detract from the overall appearance, and as mentioned before, it's not a problem as to seating capacity at Duke football games.

Yes, it is a nice place to wander around in, easy acdess all around up at ground level, etc., but the sight lines with that blocked view of the 4th turn is unacceptable IMHO.

If I was as wealthy as some of my fellow Duke alumni I would pay for the reconfiguration myself. Someone call Melinda ( Bill's wife) Gates.....

I never knew about the bad sight lines at Wallace Wade Stadium. But looking at the picture linked above...what a strange set-up for a track stadium.
