He's been back for a couple of weeks if you were asleep.

The one guy who beat him at Pre Nats wasn't in this race so what is so !!!!ing about the conference meet.

What is so interesting about it is that PAUL MORRISON is also back.

Aha! You are correct. Ritz did win that race. For some reason I kept thinking that the Arizona guy won it. That makes the Ritz is back !!!! post even more ridiculous.

Gee, my apologies for not worshiping at the pre-Nats altar like you obvious experts. That's a race that happens way early in the season when there are many questions about who's in what kind of shape, and most are running with a team orientation in mind, looking for get-to-the-Nationals points.

REAL racing starts at the conference level, and then the regionals will really tell us something.

true enough, that is when the stakes are raised - especially at regionals. however, a couple of weeks before the conference meets is hardly "way early." also, most of the top-10 (and definitely all of the top-5) teams in each race at prenationals will earn auto bids so "get-to-the-nationals" points are not an issue for them. for the top teams and individuals, it truly is a fitness test.

If you want to consider the Pre Nats 'way early' in the season compared to the two week later conference meet then we can take your opinions based on that logic.

                    Re: Ritz Is Back!

Obviously, peaking is a tricky thing, but if I were running a top-notch collegiate program, I'd be very disappointed if my ace runners did not show a marked improvement between pre-Nats and Conference at this time of year. They'd re running through that first bit of silliness then beginning to sharpen thereafter.
