Typo in the headline. It was indeed 14:44.80.

I think were looking at- at least a mid 14:30 runner when she doesnt have to run the last 3k by herself. Very exciting.

Not too surprising, given is indoor 3000 (7:40, just ahead of Tegenkamp).

3.000m fast time doesn:t mean a fast 5.000m. I:ve run completely off-the-charts times at both distances for what the equilvalent should have been.

Yes, and Josh Rohatinsky; got big PR also...13:25.53...and only BYU runners, Doug Padilla and Paul Cummings have run faster...and their PR's may have been after graduating.

Rohatinsky also got 3:41.83 PR in 1500m recently...he's in best form of his life right now.

I don't know about the 'shape of his life' assessment; he did run a pretty good XC race last November.

Who said it was surprising? I fully expect that, by the time he retires, he will have very outdoor record up here from 1500 to 10000. Remind you of anyone?

WALNUT, Calif. - Less than two weeks after running a sub-4:00 mile, Liberty University junior Josh McDougal blazed to a 13:20.43 time in the 5,000-meter final at the Mt. SAC Relays late Friday night. His time, the fastest by a collegiate performer this season, puts McDougal at No. 5 all-time in the event among collegiate runners.

McDougal, who entered the race with an overall 5K personal best of 13:37.32 and an outdoor best of 13:52.92, maintained an even pace throughout, splitting 4:16 for the first mile and coming through two miles in 8:32.

                    nice run!
Also nice is that it removes the mark from a controversial realtor of note.

That leaves the outdoor 1000m and the indoor 1500m.

I look forward to the day when she no longer appears on the record lists.

When was the last time we've (us 'mericans) had a lady finish in the top 8 at a major championships? Lynn Jennings, maybe?

Anyway, not saying this will happen, but Flanagan's got a shot.

Sure would be great to see her mixing it up in the Osaka final.

OK, so it was Libbie Hickman, 7th in '97. Completely forgot about Libbie Hickman. :?

that realtor also still has the 2 mile world record, but defar should make that record vanish on may 20th at the addidas classic, anyone got the addidas start list or knows if flanagan will go for the american 2 mile there. i hope flanagan gets the american 3k record as well, the world outdoor womens 3k is out of reach i am afraid.
