  • Stuczynski takes world lead 4.73m (15'6.25")

April 21, 2007 -- Stuczynski Jumps Number 1 Outdoor World Mark

Jennifer Stuczynski needed just one attempt to take the world lead outdoors with a height of 4.73m (15' 6.25") at the Brockport State Invitational. This was the first outdoor showing for Jennifer this year, and it was an impressive one. Increasing her outdoor PR by 7cm, she then went on to attempt a new American Record at 4.84m (15' 10.5") missing 3 times with plenty of height, but coming down on the crossbar. Video will be available at suhrsports.com within the next 48hrs.

Of course, the Europeans have not yet begun their outdoor season, so this may not be the World Leader for long, but it's nonetheless a very significant mark.

No woman has ever vaulted that high this early in the outdoor season.

No American other than Dragila has ever vaulted higher at all. Only 7 other women total have ever vaulted higher under any conditions.

And it's only April and her season has just begun! A lot can happen in the next two years, but right now it's not unreasonable to think that she could be on the podium in Osaka and/or Beijing. At the very least, she should be a serious medal contender.

      It's very exciting.

Couldn't see if anyone mentioned it but Dragila cleared 4.30m at the BYU Clarence Robison Invitational.

Thanks, I missed that! She was in the open section, not the invitational section for some reason.

Best wishes to her; she's got a lot of spunk!
