  • The Long Beach 9 File Claim Against City

The nine Long Beach kids (including two-time defending CA State 400 champ Sade Williams) found guilty of crimes in the Holloween beating file claim against the city of Long Beach.

In the claim, the minors allege their civil rights were violated in almost every step of the investigative and judicial process. The claim includes a request for damages "in excess of $50,000."

Only $50K?! That's practically un-American (see Cheruiyot thread).

So does this mean we can assume that they're each offering financial payments to the girl that they assaulted, since one could argue that they violated her civil rights. :?

I'm thinking white girls don't actually have "civil rights," but that's just a guess.

They are asserting that they did not do the crime and that they are asserting that there was some serious problems with the prosecution of the crime.

Do not shot me, I am just saying what I thought there position is.

Yes, from what (very little) I read about the case, it was problematic. Kinda "Duke West" -- except that two young women were clearly and seriously attacked.

the 9 were ordered to pay restitution, so any money the 9 get will likely go to the 3 victims (2 who have majorpossibly lifelong injuries) 2 more males in the case will either accept a plea bargain on may 10th or a trial date will be set. the convicted 9 gave the description and house address of the 2 awaiting trial, where police found, blood on the skateboard that matches the victims blood. sade williams and the other 8 were not allowed to run track this year, university of southern california was going to give williams a scholarship before this happened, now i hear rumors usc wont give her the scholarship. i dont know if williams has a track future, i know a jc coach who will give her a chance, but that jc coach says universities wont give scholarships to prospects with a felony, and turning pro is unlikely as sponsors will stay away from someone convicted of a hate crime, and this is very sad as she probably did not do what she is accused of.

Obviously you never read her myspace page. There is 100 percent certainty that Sade Williams is a racist thug.

She wasn't allowed to run track? Boo-hoo.

Agreed that her myspace page gives the racist thug tag legitimacy, but that was not what she was convicted of. The facts of the case as publicized are a bit murky. My guess is that some of those convicted were heavily involved, some were hanging with those heavily involved, and some of those heavily involved have never been picked up. Sounded to me as if all the kids clammed up and would not point fingers, and so based on the evidence they did have the judgment was guilty and the punishment was a slap on the wrist. And my heart does not bleed for Sade . . .

they are pointing fingers at the 2 boys who go on trial (or plea bargain) in may. some of her friends wrote racist stuff on her myspace page at the time she was in jail and had no access to the computer. she has discontinued her myspace page. she was heavily recruited, including by many white coaches, find one that says he personally said racist things to them. you cant she does not do that in fact she belonged to a club no more racism. she cant be responsible for everything her friends put on her myspace page.
