I took up HJ-ing seriously after watching Dwight and Wszola in Montreal...I decided I'd be in the 1980 Games (he's talking about how he started and has a similar story!). Thanks Dwight.

From the first show (only one caller), I got the impression he's going to be pretty mellow and gracious on those counts. This will be a small and specialized audience ... I think it will be relatively low-key and high-quality.

Favorite Stones call: The 1991 Worlds Long Jump (and my biggest love are the distances).
Dwight's not necessarily looking for mellow or low-key--he welcomes calls on any subject. Don't forget the name of the show--"The Mouth That Soars".

[quote="Walt Murphy"]Here's your chance to ask Dwight Stones all those tough questions you have about the sport. He hosts a call-in show, "The Mouth That Soars", at http://www.modavox.com/sports/...it airs every Wednesday from 11:00am-noon(Pacific), 2:00pm-3m(Eastern).

You can check it out now to make sure you can hear the current show. The toll-free call-in number is 1-866-472-5788."

Sorry for this late notice, but Dwight's guest today (5 minutes from now) is former world-class hurdler Mark Crear. Dwight encourages anyone with something to say to call him at the above number.

I would qualify that "best" with "American". I don't think Dwight is as good as some of the European announcers. He's not that good on the distance races, IMO.
    Cheers,

some one please call in and ask him (and yes, I love him dearly too) if it will ever be possible for T&F commentators to treat the athletes competing in our national championships with at least 1/10th the respect that Network commentators afford NFL and NBA second stringers...... Ask him what has prevented this from happening?

How like a fawning gh-yesman he looks! I hate him for he is an insider, But more for that in low simplicity he enters our contests and prevents us from ever winning here in Venice Beach, CA. If I can catch him once upon the hip, I will feed fat the ancient grudge I bear him. He hates us plebian posters, and he rails, even there where track fans most do congregate, on me, my picks and my well-thought-out guesses,
which he calls pathetic. Cursed be my threads, If I forgive him!
