In preparation for the World Cup in Athens, though, the Wilson High and Long Beach City College standout's season came to an end when his lower back was inadvertently injured during an adjustment by a chiropractor.

Then in October, Arnold's preparation for the 2007 season was put on hold after Plantar's Wart on his left takeoff foot, a condition believed to be contracted from walking barefoot in the gym.

Arnold had surgery to remove the benign growths three months later in January. A second treatment with mild acid finally eradicated the warts. When he return to training, Arnold, however, strained his hamstring because sensitivity in his foot caused him to compensate.

I still get those and they are SUCH a pain! And back in the day, 'tweren't no 'mild acid' - it was an acetylene torch type gizmo! They'd BURN them out of you. Ever smelled your own flesh burning? :shock:

I had 'lots' of them when I was a kid (8-13 especially). They started going away as I got older and I never did have an issue with them on the bottom of my feet so we never attacked them (I am similar vintage with EPelle, as least medically in this context). Now my daughter has them - many fewer but some on her feet.

another medical term that as often as not gets screwed up; most people seem to call them planter's warts or planter warts... This capped version of Plantar's Wart is a new one.

"plantar" of course, merely refers to the sole of the feet. It's a plantar wart (or warts).
