Today in Venizeleia meeting. He stepped 10 to 15 cm behind the red mark. I don't know the wind yet but it was legal. He did one foul first (just a little) that was huge, and then did this jump and stopped competing. The TV camera this time had the right angle so I hope someone will post the video on YouTube.

shouldn't the full results include all jumps for all athletes?

Sorry, Trackfan, but that 8.66 mark was not into a legal pit at all. Just look at the video...very wavy surface of the sand. I suspect that the mark was more like 8.16-8.36m. I won't believe any 28' marks out of him until I see it abroad.

But if you watch the video you will see that the mark he left on the sand was very clear, so I don't think that the sand is an issue. Anyway, he will participate in quite a few meetings abroad, so all we have to do is to wait and see.

Anyone else think the cynicism here is bordering on rascist?
If some US jumper with a series of 8.30s under his belt popped out an 8.65m in some minor US meet we wouldn't see this level of sarcasm and questioning. Instead we'd see claims to wind/altitude-adjustment putting it up in the Myricks-Powell-Lewis-Beamon territory (and all non-USAnians would be ignored). Subsequently we'd digress into "a Jesse Owens would have jumped 9.20" discussion.
Tsatoumas looks the real deal to me. Two different meets are a tough conspiracy to swallow...

Time will certainly tell on this one.. my remaining skepticism is based on seeing the jump, if an athlete as moderate speed and moderate lift then I expect moderate distances.. if the athlete pops off an 8.6 meter jump and he does not have the requisite speed down the runway he had better be getting quite high to do it.. I hope the fellow is for real, but if a US High schooler with 10.5 speed recorded an 8.6m jump with average height off the ground Id raise an eyebrow and chalk it up to the coeds officiating the foul mark and the two manning the rakes at the end of the pit.... nothing really ever changes my friend, new lines for old, new lines for old.
