Bolt destroys the field including Spearmon. Bolt will definitely make it on our 4 x 100m relay team now. Good run by Bolt for a guy who hasn't run an open 100m in years.

The fact that Bolt can so handily beat Spearmon in the 100, but not the 200, bespeaks poorly for his training. Since Bolt has better PRs in the 1 AND 4 than Spearmon, what's that say about his 200 training (I don't know; I'm asking)?

Wonder why gh didn:t see this elsewhere on the meet thread? He:s too busy looking at drugs stories when the rest of us are enjoying track meets.

That's a GREAT run, not just good! And when was his last open 100? Has he ever run one? Tilastopaya has his record back to 2001 (when he was 14 most of the season) and lists no 100s at all.

Straight in at #6 in the 1-2-4, 2 places ahead of Wallace Spearmon. Now, we need LaShawn Merritt to run a 100...his best is still the 10.47 he ran to win his HS state meet in 2004, just before his 18th birthday.

What leg should Bolt run on in the relay? 2nd seems the obvious one. Both the Jamaican and the Brit 4x1s are looking very strong...USA better get the selection and changes right! :-)

maybe the real issue is Spearmon's 100m training

Spearmon has a better 400 PR: 45.22 vs 45.28. Maybe Bolt really is a 100/200 guy naturally. I assume that he's always been pegged as a 200/400 guy because of his size, but maybe the 100 suits him better than the 400.

                      X. Carter has better times (or just as good) than both of these guys in all 3 dashes. But the predicted takeover of the sprint world by X-Man is on hold, perhaps indefinitely.

All three are still quite young. I think it will be at least another year before things starting shaking out and we can say with some assurance who's good at what, who's better than whom and by how much, etc.

And Bolt still only 20 (21 in August).... suspect that puts him way up on the all-time list of dashers at such a young age.

he'll have to move from tex's 200/400 list to the 100/200 one ( i don't think we can claim 45+ was the basis of 10.03 )
