The wind was 1.0 in her 7,15 jump! Fantastic preformance!
Um, so (for the benefit of metric-challanged Yanks) what's that in "real" units? Lessee ... it's about 23 & one-half feet: that's quite a jump!

Thanks, mate. What would we do without you?
So impressed by Vlasic and Lebedyeva but pleased for Gomes, I always liked her and guess she has found her forté (maybe Sotherton should have taken this road). Still amazed that she never managed to put together a better heptathlon than 6230, her PBs total over 6600. Also incredible how horrible her speed is for a longjumper, she was a 12/25 100m/200m runner and over 13.5 in the hurdles.
Aside from that (and inspired by Madrid meeting) does anyone have an address I can write to to request the organization of a Commonwealth Games every year, prefereably six months, in order that Susan Scott can be a consistent world class athlete instead of a flash in the pan every four years?
Not wanting to go too far down that road again but it seems as though Kelly has lost international class at the long jump, judging on recent performances but I will still look forward to watching her at the AAA Champs. Gomes was sort of forced into quitting multi-events, due to a back injury in the high jump.
Susan Scott has been toying with the 1500m as well as the 800m but doesn't really seem to be having too much luck with either distance these days. I think she trains in London with Mo Farah these days.
Amazingly, Gomes only jumped 6.10 (!) in Athens in the heptathlon and wasn't hugely impressive in that discipline in Helsinki.

She must be capable of much faster in the sprints, or else she's the next world hight jump record holder waiting for curtain time.
as for gomes, i guess STP's loss is portugal's win.
