New WL from vlasic. Only one X in the up to 205 and that was on 192!


Now she goes for 210!

Can she get her nerves under control she looks like a solid gold medallist in Osaka!

I say worth 208, looked about the same as when Kajsa and perhaps Tia was in their best shape last year.

The women's high jump record is certainly looking vulnerable and I think this is the 11th competition of the season, indoors and outdoors, that Vlasic has cleared 2m or higher, and could have Henkel's mark of most jumps over 2m in a season in sight.

Please could you describe her attempt?

She looked to have the height on both occasions but probably scraped it off with her calves or ankles.

Watching it in motion instead of a still picture, it appears she has the elevation but her behind falls too soon on to the bar.

She did touch it with the low part of her bottom first before she did with her calves

She i further into the jump in the the first picture. In the second jump it almost looks like she is already bending the bar, maybe she has hit it with her upper back. They are obviously very good attempts. Vlasic definitely look the favorite for Osaka, especially since both Hellebaut and Bergqvist have been struggling.
But then there is Slesarenko!

i hope she has damn well competed in every possible meet beween march - oct in her whole career, otherwise kajsa & tia will be high-5'ving themselves into a frenzy if she fails to make the podium in osaka

Not really up on my metrics, but my guess is that it's better than 2.05 but not as good as 2.10. :wink:
