  • Did Webb leave it too late to make the Aug cover?

Hey Gary, just wondering if Webby left it too late in the month to make the next cover? I'm guessing his 3:30 win would not have been enough EMO, but his mile AR should be.

What would everyone have has the headline?

    'Webb 3:46.91 AR'

Maybe SI could spare a cover this week: or perhaps they have one reserved for Michael Vick?

Ironic they're both from Virginia. One's on top of his game and the other is watching his collapse beneath him.

They are bit behind in updating the home page, but even I, lonely boy in San Diego has his Walter Dix August cover. There will be a September issue out in a few days (coming Wed, by the Aug issue). That should have the USATF and the early post Bislett Euro circuit. Maybe a WC dope sheet? At any rate, AW's Paris win should be covered, and that may be enough to get him "covered" If not, he will almost certainly grab the next issue. Hell, he is faster than Coe now

They'll have to somehow fit him in between Walter Dix covers.

Were there any cover quality pictures of his AR?

Cover of T&FN...a kiss of death (gold medal-wise) for all too many.

Perhaps a little premature talking about gold in 1500 meters? How many times has he been under 3.30? Good kick perphaps will help out, but........let's relax handing out any medals to Webb prematurely. First he has to make the finals.

watch webb race this year, and not many others are racing as well as he is...

                  handles baala in paris...

lagat, well, webbs got his number this year...

ramzi is an unknown, perhaps he's off with the vinkorov group preparing...

webb has show great strength and the ability to show a last 400 meters unlike any he's had in previous years...

name your favorites now, and why....webb is top 5 clearly

Funny you should ask this! This morning the answer would have been no. As of now, the answer is a qualified yes.

Meaning it's not Ansel Adams stuff, but it's usable. (Adams, of course, is over-rated; El Capitan wasn't moving at 20mph when he tried to shoot it :-) )

Having said that, Webb not necessarily the cover. Aside from other pro level things still to come in the window served by this issue, it's largely the High School Annual, and preliminary planning was along those lines.

I'm guessing that you're going to make the HS tie-in with a split cover of Webb breaking the HS record beside Webb breaking the AR. That will make the less than high quality AR pic more useful.

                      Just saying.

Pictures that look fabulous (make that utterly fabulous) on websites don't necessarily translate to good in print.

generally 72dpi vs 300dpi, and the size is only a fraction of an 8.5x11 is.

There's far more to a cover picture than content (unfortunately).

                              Half Miler knows this.

All U have to do is say "pretty please" and the shooter will email U a high-rez version. A check in return would be nice.
