Brunson's first race of the year. Should be interesting. ONe of those situations where it's going to be a 10.2x or a 9.9x. Ya never know.

Asafa could post sub 9.84 clocking. Also make note of Nester Carter, any PB could signal that a Jamaica 4X100 victory at WC is highly likely.

this is a difficult race for safa to judge

he obviously wants to win fast & just fractionally set a new stadium record, but nowhere close to wr

they offer a very nice diamond for each stadium record, which safa collected last year for his 9.86 win

he's said he liked it very much & wants to pick up more of these in the future & that obviously means, ideally, he'd like to run 9.85 here today & no quicker

judging a race so you run "only" a 9.85 must be damn near impossible to do, but good luck to him

if he does run 9.80 or better, i'm sure he'll have mixed blessings about it, as it's going to be damn difficult to get future diamonds ( if he's in < 9.80 shape, he already knows it, as he's done it enough times, so such a clocking to him is probably meaningless )

        http://www.iaaf.org/GP07/news/Kind=2/newsId=40037.html

Powell ran 9.86 for a stadium 100m record last year and was awarded a 1-carat diamond.

“I want another diamond,” confirms Powell. “I am coming back to run another stadium record. The crowd is fantastic and the track is fast and ranks among the best. The whole atmosphere at the old Olympic Stadium motivates you to do well.”

What did you do with the diamond you got last year?

“It’s still in the box, but I look at it sometimes. It reminds me of my race and makes me want to run even faster.”

But not too fast, he adds.

“By shaving one hundredth of a second off the record each race I can win many diamonds,” he laughs.

If Powell could wish for anything at the DN Galan it would be the following conditions:

“A tailwind of 1.2 to1.5 and warm weather. Not too hot, but warm. Last year was very good, (+0,2, temperature of 29,2 C and air humidity at 48 percent).”
        he's a smart guy

Can one of our Jamaican friends confirm whether it is Nester, Nestar or Nesta Carter?

Not quite - he ran 10.26 in his heat at Carson 20 May. I assume he's been injured since - anyone know any details?

A Jamaican team is also entered in the 4x1 in Stockholm. If that's their best team running, it could give an indication as to what they're capable of in Osaka.

I do not think Usain Bolt is there

Has the Jamaican trio for the 100 been decided? Powell + 2 of Campbell, Mullings and Carter, I assume, but which two?
