No one over 2.30 yet, but the technique for Thomas is becoming more efficient, I think.

Holm over at 2.30m. I believe Thomas is gone.
If you're ever walking down the beach and you see a girl dressed in a bikini made out of seashells, and you pick her up and hold her to your ear, you can hear her scream.

only two left with 2 misses each (Williams/Thorn), now both missed, so Just Holm, to try 2.33?

Don't know what happened to Janku. He appears to have withdrawn after one miss at 2.24m.

Holm second-time clearance of 2.33, where to next?

              2.35m he's attempting.

Holm heating up big time! 2.35m!

Holm has one miss at 2.37m, which would be an outdoor PR for him.

Too bad the womens comp overshadowed the mens so much. Nice mark for Holm, glad I picked him in a previous thread for the WC. Good to see Thornblad back into a little better form.

Thornblad's coach said prior to this meet that if Linus did not do 2.28 he would not be going to Osaka. I would think 2.27 is good enough + he placed well, 2nd after Holm.

There are a number of jumpers out there that aren't jumping anywhere near where they should be by August. Thornblad, Sokolovsky, Ukhov, Krymarenko, Silinov and others need to seriously get it in gear for the upcoming WC. If not, are we going to have another Krymarenko type final?? God, I hope not!! Although, it would be a very nice story to have Thomas go from anonymity to world champ.

I, for one, love "Krymarenko-type finals"!

Gary, you can't tell me you would take that kind of performance over something like three guys over 2.38m (ala Rome). You're a funny man! I realize there is more intrigue and drama at watching the little-known guy pull off the huge upset, but c'mon man. It's like Chidi Imoh beating Carl Lewis in 86' at Goodwill. It was memorable, but Ben's 9.95 non-altitude was the story.

Thomas is the world leader, if he wins in Osaka it won't be a major upset. Krymarenko just jumped out of the nowhere - somewhat like Ulrike Meyfarth in 1972 or Gennadiy Avdeyenko in 1983.
