    it was kenyan trials in '92 & kiptanui, who was already '01 champ, failed to qualify thru illness/injury

    he set 3k wr after games & as you well remember, a ~ 13'01 with disgraceful pacing - he was effectively 5k wr holder that year

    he wouda certainly won 3ksc in barcelona & almost as easily the 5k with a last 5 laps in close to 5'00

    I agree with malmo......... 99%.

    The missing 1% is that they stage the stupid meet too early!

    Like all the other major powers, should be a month later, but that would make too much sense.

    Just like the w400, where the two best (if not quite two fastest) are not in the open 400. However, they get a relay, where there is no 4x3000SC.
