The Swedes need to get themselves some better canned opening music...the theme from "Thriller" is 24 years old...and MJ (the gloved-one) is like ancient history....get with the times, Stockholm.

Couldn't agree more!!! The country that produced ABBA, Ace of Base, Roxette and Max Martin should be able to come up with something more original.

What could possibly be better than ABBA?

How loud would the music be in the stadium? Music is such a personal taste - most of what I could hear would irritate me greatly!!

Agreed. But Thriller is better than Black Velvet.

Having seen "The Bourme Ultimatum" Sunday, might I suggest the credits music from that? It rocks.

Good suggestion, DrJay...something more contemporary..cutting edge...but with universal recognition. If they were going to go with the oldies, then ABBA or Ace of Base would've been more in line.

I think I'd go with the Hives.

Extreme Ways by Moby is the end credits music.

Thanks. I'm generally out of the new music loop, and with the advent of iPods, parents like me don't get the chance to hear their kids' music involuntarily the way mine did.

there was also a lot of the intro from the classic 1973 single from Mott The Hoople: ROLL AWAY THE STONE to give us oldies a tingle, an echo even, of better, carefree days.

What the hell was that annoying whistly music they were playing? If I was lining up, that would have really pissed me off. I hate that song and it hardly added to the ambience of the meeting!

However, it was between that and the Ace of Bace, that would have won!

They did play Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana though, about once though!

Worse music ever! But i can tell you Asafa went around whistling on that whistling tune so maybe he had a say in that! Strange laid back jamaica music, as someone said, the hives would have been more appropriate (last time I use appropriate in the same sentence as The Hives!)

Maybe they should play "Cotton Eyed Joe" by the famous Swedish dance band Rednex. Quite possibly the best piece of Swedish music ever produced.
