  • World Rankings On-line

Thanks, gh et al. Getting the AOY and event rankings in my e-mail this morning made the day after Thanksgiving another day to give thanks! This whole internet thing is working out rather nicely.

      Re: World Rankings On-line

      In the five events: 100, 200, 400, 110H and 400H, the US men have 25 (!) rankers.

In the five events: 800, 1500, St, 5K and 10K
the US men have 0 (!) rankers.

It CANNOT be a matter of lack of talent. The body types and twitch fibers may be very different, but you can't tell me we couldn't at least get a couple of 800 types in there.

5 shot putters and 0 HT or JT. The list goes on.

And here's your rankings trivia question: A male ranker and a female ranker have two-letter last names - who are they?

But I did all right in guessing the rankings:

        100: 2-1-4-3-5
        200: 1-2-3-4-5 !!
        400: 2-1-3-4
        HJ: 1-2-3-4-6-5
        PV: 1-2-3-4 !

The US also had no women who ranked in distance events from 800m on up.

IAAF takes indoors into account in the 800, TFN does not
