It might not happen, but I would love to see Jeter running the backstretch, if not the homestetch, for USA on the relay. Her top end work in the 100 (showcased in the Q and F) was as good, if not better than anyone from the 100m group.

Helluva team. Might you swap Williams to 1 and Edwards to 3? Seems to me that LW is a quicker starter.

Or leave out Tori and put Barber on the opener

Either way, I reckon this is the championships best chance of a WR!

not a hope all of the them struggle to get under 11

i know realys are all about exchanges but you need the leg speed as well. if you look at the past teams that have failed to break the WR and thsi one is no comparison
            i deserve extra credit

Williams, Edwards, Felix and Jeter for the finals...this gives the U.S. the great start they need...it allows Edwards to run a little further than 100 meters (that may work in her favor)...it gives felix the curve that she runs so well...by that time Jeter should have a small lead that she only has to maintain from an fast-closing VC.

I know those girls have worked hard, but I don't see Lisa Barber getting left off of that team. Like it or not she is the top dog on leg 1 and LW will probably run third leg with Torri and maybe Allyson on 2nd and 4th (interchangable). However, there is a good chance Allyson will be left off and Jeter inserted. But they've been practicing in their relay camp so I'd go with the best chemistry! Allyson and Torri have the 200 so in the rounds I can see them going with Barber, Jeter, Williams, and maybe Barber...all you have to insert is Torri on anchor...just a thought...Allyson will have her work cut out for her in the 200m and the 4x4 is going to roll out!

One would hope, of course, that last night's 100 have ZERO to do with whom they put on the team at this point!

The only semi-fact I can report at this point is that I have heard from decent sourcing that Felix can be expected to be on both relays.

Think back to 2004 when the US ladies we're uber close. The team consisted of ANgela WIlliams - 11.1 that year, Jones, 11.0 that year, WIlliams 10.9 and Colander 11.1 - they were less than .2 away from the record.

In my opinion, despite the times in the final - The Usa now gain that .2 with Barber on the first leg, Felix without having to start is clearly sub 11, WIlliams again nearly back in PB shape Jeter fantastic top end speed or Tori 10.9 this year.
So, there most certainly is HOPE! 8)

People have said this before but I can't recall her having ever run a lead off leg?!?

WIllimas enjoys the 3rd leg, and runs extremely well there- Felix is clearly a backstraight kinda girl. Edwards let Aron run her down in 03 - her strength as a sprinter is her complete race-start, drive- relaxation etc. I honestly feel that with a rolling start she'd lose to Jeter. so it's a tough call- but definately go with what they've practiced and PLEASE put the same team out in the heat and final! ops:

You can bet there is some serious political maneuvering going on right now. You have four women who feel that they have done everything in their power to earn a spot on that team, but then you hear Me'Lisa Barber's name being mentioned. I have nothing against Miss Barber, but if she runs in place of Edwards, Felix, Williams or Jeter, that person will rightfully be asking what more they could have done.

Agree. Barber shouldn't even BE there.
