I believe that this race will be to the 200w the same as Lausanne last year was for the men. I believe in the condition are good and both Allyson and Sanya are uninjured then they will both deep well bellow the 22.00 barrier and the winner close to 21.7. The race of the meet in my opinion.

I was not aware that Jamaica was not including Stewart. I think they should leave out Brooks in this event and use Facey and Bailey.

I would be excited to see Simone Facey in this event. I really think her chances of making the final are better than either Brooks or Bailey. I do believe she is due a big PR in this one.....she may surprise at how well she performs.

Race of the meet for me. I want VC to run an Athenesque bend and for Felix and Richards to challenge in the straight.

Race of the year, forget alone race of the meet. And furlong of the decade, no match like this since Atlanta '96, though Inger vs. Marion in '99 would have surpassed anything else in a very long time.

I thought the Prefontaine men's 200 was the race of the year. At least that's how it was billed at the time it happened. By the way, I wonder how many people still want to see Mary Wineberg step aside to make room for Sanya. They're probably not the same people who are looking forward to the women's 200 final.

I meant women's race of the year, that's why I was comparing to other women. sorry should have made that clearer. OMHO but I don't think any furlong since Ottey-Perec has been so potentially hot.

I wouldn't be surprised if you're right, but I also won't be shocked it it comes down to an agonizing study of the photo. Anyone willing to take a guess at the opening 100 splits for the big 3? I'll say Sanya and Veronica in around 11.20. Felix could probably split as fast as Grace Jackson did in Seoul over the second half, sub 10.50.

Felix has withdrawn from the 100 so that she can give the 200 her full attention. I wonder if Felix would have withdrawn if Sanya was in the 400 instead of the 200. Now they'll both head into the 200 fresh.

No way Richards beats Felix in the 200. Richards will get her gold in Osaka but it will be in the 1600m. Relay.

sanya has a ~ 22.2pb, but now she's shown 11-flat speed & we know she has sub-49 endurance ( an actual 48.70 from last year, but she may not be that quick currently )

anyhows, on paper, sanya shoud now be threatening the 22s barrier : if you want a previous comparator, valerie brisco with 48.8 ability & 100 ability similar to sanya ( someone look up her 100pb & '84sb ) ran 21.81 in '84 final

sanya is now superior to brisco over 400 ( at her peak ) & probably similar over 100 & brisco ran a 21.81

that shoud mean sanya is at least good for 22-flat

I think Felix can run 21.8. So can Veronica Campbell. I'd say those two will finish ahead of Sanya Richards. Who will win...no idea. Campbell runs an awesome bend...Felix finishes like a train...great race!

                              felix has a 22.1+pb

it's a big jump from that to 21.8+ in one fell swoop !!!
