I can't remember from previous Big Meets, but when do we find out the line-ups, or is it all 'play it by ear', till the night before?

Didn't you see that weather report? It's waaay too hot in Japan this time of year for the Jamaican's bobsled to go fast.

I like the home team's chances. Anybody who can produce a Nathan's Hot Dog contest winner that many years in a row....well, they must be doing something right. 8)

This year the U.S. will bobble a handoff and still win.

With only Gay making it out of the 100 heats, the decision to leave X-man out of the relay pool is looking more dubious by the day.

                By my reckoning,

                Gay+Spearmon = Powell+Bolt

                but,

                Jelks+Samuels+Dixon+Scott < Carter+Campbell+Mullings+Williams

Right, that is exactly what I said.

Why can't they follow instructions Garry? Perhaps, next time you should just delete the duplicate thread.

                        jazzcyclist,
Xman didn't make USA finals in 100 or 200, so couldn't be considered for relay duty?

How do you explain Me'Lisa Barber? She made neither final, yet she's in the relay pool.

Leroy Dixon is surely up for a spot, he's been in good form and ran 10.13 in the warm-up meet a couple of days ago. I'd wager Scott will get the last spot, presumably on first leg.

Not sure what order I'd run them in though. Ideally Spearmon and Gay run 2 and 3 but that would leave Dixon (if it's him) really exposed on the final leg. That suggests Gay on the last leg, but then who runs third?

If Jamaica don't win this year, they may not get a better chance for a long time...

Dixon ran the 1st 100 well on the curve in the 2006 200 final--he was 3rd there. Although Scott is a good starter he is not an excellent curve runner, so experience makes him a good anchor choice.

                              Dixon - Spearmon - Gay - Scott can run 37.4 - 37.5.

Conwright - Spearmon - Gay - Smoots ran 37.59 at the 2006 World Cup. 2nd place Great Britian 38.45 did not catch the "exposed" Smoots who had recently run 10.01 at the high elevation Rieti meet.
