Race: There are nominees aplenty, including a women’s 100 that required a photo finish. But the one best suited for downloading was the men’s 110 hurdles. Liu started in Lane 9 after failing to win his semifinal, but he won his first world championship anyway, coming from behind with supreme confidence and skill to pass Terrence Trammell, twisting to his left to enjoy the view as he crossed the finish line in under 13 seconds.
Yeah probably: Liu is special. I gave him best race in Athens as well.

Though Liu's performance was tremendous, I have to admit that as a fairly regular reader of the NY Times...I would have been stunned if they had bestowed that distinction on an American athlete!!

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the NYT just doesnt have that many athletes that they really get excited about!! No slap intended at Liu...only at the Times!!

I was stunned that they knew that the WCs were going on. It's a good choice for the best race, although they make it sound like Liu won by 20 meters.
