  • Cardinal Invite 10?

Any idea who's running? Are the Kenyans going to be out there again this year? Meb going after the record again?

      Re: Cardinal Invite 10?

I haven't seen any entry lists, but I doubt the Kenyans who have trained in Palo Alto during the spring the last 5 years or so will be back.

Much of the money that supported the Kenyans' camp in Shallow Alto was shoe money that Kim McDonald received to use as he saw fit.

Without that money, the Kenyans, who are notoriously cheap, will most likely not want to spend their own money on expensive SF Peninsula rents.

As for Meb, I believe he's deciding between Cardinal and Hengelo for his first 10K this season. I heard Meb is running Hengelo, and also possibly Bekele. It might be the de facto Ethiopian trials!

Meb should run at Stanford again because the track, unlike Henglo, is short.

If the Stanford track is short, how come the sprint times are always so slow?

Give the boys down on the Farm credit for putting together high-quality fields with high-quality pacing and staging races in weather conducive to fast 10s. (OK, the weather part is luck--Vin might be a god, but I don't think he controls that part of the equation.)

bump.... why? Cuz it was the oldest post extant, buried way back there on page 731!

And this just in... the Stanford track is still short :-) :-)
