IIRC, it was about 20 years ago when they changed the rule.
Aha, in the late 1980s I was a little busy doing Uncle Sam's bidding.

So in the case of a B-B-A finish, wouldn't both the A and the first-placing B get to go?

Because if there's an A, only A's can go. If there's only B's, only one goes.

            TAFNUT

Big thanks for all the great info you have provided!

            Seeksreal

I think that a B only can go if there are NO A's - only 2 events fit that category - men's HT & women's TJ.

I am surprised to see only 1 A qualifier in the woman's HJ.

Hopefully there will be 3 in each event by the finish of the trials in Eugene, although that's not likely in the men's HT, and the woman's JT & TJ.

And there's a great place for any USATF Olympic Development program to target - why are mHTers and wTJers so far below the rest of the USA's performance level? There's 2 boy HTers I know of that deserve some attention, and certainly we've had girl TJers recently like K Richardson. What happened to B Daniels? Did she go from USC to Tenn and then disappear?

I think the men's & women's JT could use lots of attention also.

BTW, whatever happened to Kenny Hall?

This meet May 26, 2007, Future Invitational, Belaire High School, Baton Rouge, LA

says he long jumped 8.09. but it's not listed anywhere, even as wind-aided or nwi, which is really odd, since the mark is from the USATF site.

Sorry I am taking this off topic, but 8.09 is a good mark indicating potential for next year. But 14.19 converts to around 46-7 in my thinking. And he did over 56-0 w in high school!

Why the decline i wonder - injury?

The B-go rule is for WC, not OG

                          BTW....WJT

12 weeks out from Tommy John Surgery, Kreiner threw 50 throws with a baseball yesterday. Very strong and way ahead of a very aggressive recovery schedule, thanks to the SF Giants surgeon Dr. Ken Akizuki. Great surgeon but even better recovery specialist. It means more when they're actually paying the players to perform to get them back quickly!

Kim should start with the javelin after the new year. :!:

I believe Lopez Lomong s/b added to the 800 & 1500 lists or do his times not count since he was not yet a US citizen.

Can anybody tell me if marks obtained indoors in events like Broad Jump, TJ, PV etc can be allowed to qualify for "A" status for olympic eligibility?

Given the shortage of qualifiers in some of these events so far, if they are allowed it would add an extra element of interest to the indoor season.

Indoor marks are accepted as Olympic qualifiers.
