  • Mac/Linux Users UNABLE 2 watch Trials/NYC Marathon Online!!!

Although this is absolutely insane - NBC is not allowing / unable to have Mac and Linux users tune in to their online webcast of the Olympic Trials and NYC Marathon - which means U.S. fans with an Apple or Linux based computer who aren't near a TV WON'T be able to watch them! WTF

Although - again - that is ridiculous - i've found several other ways us neglected Mac/Linux users can follow along. NBC will have the NYC Marathon it on TV for most ppl in the U.S. (but not the Trials). But again - in order to find out what's happening in trials if not getting it or near a TV and to follow along with the nyc marathon online you'll need to look elsewhere.

THEREFORE, It looks like the best options to stay up with the races online is the few media outlets that will be offering textual updates throughout the race.

Runners World has said they will have much better coverage than in the past.

In addition, TheFinalSprint.com - who had coverage I enjoyed during the Boston Marathon when I couldn't see it on TV - has nearly live coverage on their site (Just refresh the page often). The specific link for their dedicated page for both the Trials and NYC is:

Anyways, sorry to all those fellow MAC/LINUX users, but hopefully the above info/sources will help you (and me!) because this is gonna be one heck of an amazing race!

I was able to watch the race live on my Mac by pasting this URL into my Windows Media Player (for Mac). I did not need to have Windows installed on my Mac to watch it either.

NBC could have made it available for Mac and Linux users but were too lazy to do it.

Well, there have been endeavors like MSNBC -- the MS there is not particularly high on Linux or Macs.
