Another really good article from the same paper:

"On Nov. 8, just two days before he was to run in the CIS cross-country championships in Victoria, B.C., Baillargeon-Smith was hit by a car."

It doesn:t get (much) better than this with all the champs lined up:

The five are Ryan McKenzie (1,500-metre champion), Elora's Matt Kerr (3,000m steeplechase champ), Dylan Wykes (10km road race champ), Guelph's Eric Gillis (10km track champ) and Guelph's Reid Coolsaet (5km champion).
Wish Bairu could have healed by now to make this even more one heckuve a race.

Sully not there either. But Coolsaet wants the win:

I've always thought that Bairu was made for XC, he just runs more efficiently than most of his competition over that ground.

I think he may have been injured for a bit. Article on sponsor:

            http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/ ... y/Business

            Official site:

            http://www.guelphrunning.ca/events.php

            Going up there shortly.

            Start list:

            http://www.eventsonline.ca/events/agsi/confirm.htm

Name form the past. Pretty sure he is 50:

            Art Boileau Canadian Masters Championship

Supermaster Steve Boyd is running the open race at about age 43 or 44.

Very nice of Chris Cameron to not only the sponsor the meet today but to pay the way for the Canadian team to Scotland in March.
The athletes would have to pay their own way(at least partially)-which is disgusting.

He also sponsors a running club for girls ages 9-12. Bravo Mr. Cameron! 8) 8) 8)

Boyd was hurt and met Artie B. Coolsaet over Gillis in just under 30:00.

Wow - the sand on your dunes is even whiter than the beach I walked on today . . . in my shorts and t-shirt . . . barefooted . . .

                              Canadian runners rule! 8)

                              or are insane. :P

We had a number of runners go from our club and I am wondering whether they made it home as I hear most flights are cancelled out of Person. I also wonder how fragile west coasters handled the conditions. :?
