south africa 4x100 world champions?

i was wondering since at the time the IAAF made the DQ decision, i read somewhere that the south african federation didn't even know where to find some of the quartet -- it had been a few years, and a couple of them weren't even active by then.

The IAAF recognizes South AFrica as the world champs, yes. If you're asking if they actually got--eventually--gold medals for it, and/or if the U.S. guys physically returned theirs, don't know the answer to that.

did the south africans get their gold medals from the world championships after the US DQ because of montgomery, does anyone know?
