The Trade Agreements between America and China are worth billions of dollars each year to the many American Corporations involved.
As such America and any other country with similar trade agreements "keep quiet" to human rights issues.
This above issue must be difficult for anyone with a sensitive mind to the suffering of others.

You think they'll put tourists and athletes in jail for protesting?
Guaranteed there will be some protests.
When you tell someone "Not" to do something, it is a natural Law, that "thing" will be done. People cannot help themselves.

if tourists are stoopid enough to go to a country & contravene their laws, albeit the illegality to protest about lack of free speech/human rights/etc, then standard sentence of that country to such, namely a bullet to back of head & organ farming is what they deserve - it's the law
for a tourist, choice is simple :
- follow the countries laws
- don't go there
as for an athlete, i see them as no different :
- follow the countries laws
- don't go there & wait for '12

Going to elementary school in Hawaii in the late 60's, local kids a couple of years younger and smaller would from time to time come up to us white boys and spit on us and say, "Howlie wanna Beef? HuH?" This was interpreted to "Hey Dumbass you want to fight?"
The first time this happened, a guy next to me pushed one of the kids and they both ran around the corner and in the next second two giant hawaiians come back around the corner, grab my friend and pounded him into the ground.
You see this was a simple setup. You use one fools anger to set him up to fall. This was a very important lesson for young me.
If you believe that we have a destiny in Life and basically the only real choice is not to react, your life will improve radically.

The shrill and penetrating notes worked well in the roar and din of battle and pipes could be heard at distances up to 10 miles. Because of the importance of the bagpipes to any Highland army, they were classified as an instrument of war by the Loyalist government during the Highland uprising in the 1700s. After the defeat of Bonnie Prince Charlie in 1745, kilts and bagpipes were outlawed, the pipes being classified as instruments of war.)
